Peria School Kids find Elvis the Elver in their stream!

Helen’s kids are leading the school at rural Peria!  In addition to the tapestry, these guys took me to the nearby stream where we found invertebrates and a baby eel! We wished Elvis a safe journey upstream.  They’re even giving me a bus ride tomorrow to visit and feed some tame eels that live near one of the kids.  COOL!  I had tears in my eyes when I said “goodbye” to these little environmental activists!  Their genuine appreciation for the tuna program is the greatest reward I could have.  I hope to keep working with Peria once I’m back in the Sonoran Desert… and want to visit them again.

Also, a BIG thanks to Soozee McIntyre (center of photo below) for all the sewing and support… this thing would not be happening without her!
